Coffee Dog

Located in the Cotton Exchange in Downtown Wilmington this is an active coffee bar with good staff, well trained and enthusiastic.  They are across the street for a chain store but feel that they compete head on and in fact that the two together help draw customers.  They are located one half block from a community college.

The Riverside Festival was underway today and the place was jammed.  Yet, the staff kept up with the customer flow and moved the line quickly.  I'm pretty sure there were no instances where more than two or three people waited for service.  And the wait was very short.

IMGA0196.JPG (128805 bytes) This is Paula and this film is Paula working hard and entertaining the audience.  While she is making a Whipped Cappuccino she explains to a customer what Yoga is all about.  At the end notice how she punctuates with "cappuccino whipped', loudly, to the crowed store.  It is great and write just below the explanation from today's log.  Here is the film on youtube.com

"The River fest on the water front was crowded.  It was difficult to walk our bikes in the crowd and I was happy to have two short blocks to get to the Coffee Dog in The Cotton Exchange, where we met several customers and Paula Giglio, a Yoga Teacher and part time expert Barista.  She was able, on film, to explain her Yoga while whipping up a cappuccino with whipped cream.  It looked great and you can see it here Coffee Dog on youtube.com.  A customer asked her to explain what she does and I asked to film the answer.  It is very unusual for people to do this, jump right into a presentation and be filmed.  At the end of the explanation she punctuates with a shout to the store "cappuccino whipped'.  Its really good and entertaining, which is good retailing and good service and the reason you want always to face the audience.  Dance if you like."
