Trent River Coffee Company

Trent River just plain felt good as soon as I entered.  Its an old building, redone.  The walls are brick and covered with paints and interesting paraphernalia and I sensed the folks were friendly.

I had a great time although Ed was pretty busy filling customer orders.  Dispite this he made me feel welcome and I think we both hit it off.  When I got back to the camper I thought about going back with the guitar, but thought better of it.  They do a lot of music, blues for example.  Ed Ruiz, the owner, plays and today Jerry Scott was at the coffee bar and he plays too.  Ed believes that the Folk Alliance has helped him by scheduling good performers.   So here is Ed: Ed and Jerry Scott.jpg.JPG (121441 bytes) and Jerry Scott.  Ed is behind the counter.  Jerry is in the foreground.  Ed is very cordial fellow, and a pleasure to know.  He is a guitar player and Jerry said that Ed plays more than that.   Jerry is the same, he plays harmonica and guitar and I took it that is a very good player.  That is why I wanted to return with guitar in hand, but did not.

coffee bar from dist.jpg.JPG (126179 bytes) This is a long shot of the bar.  Notice the computer for customers on the right.  Jerry Scott on the left, who is my age, but has a youngster still in college, I think UCLA.  Boy am I a lucky person to have two grown children both taking care of themselves.

coffee wall.jpg.JPG (117501 bytes) I apologize for this somewhat blurry picture Ed, but I include it because you obviously have a wide selection of coffees.  I applaud this.  I believe in the retail maxim, "the more you show, the more you sell".  So I urge folks to put in as many titles of coffee as they can reasonably sustain fresh.  And I believe in showing the beans, which Ed does here in large glass containers.

So I was taking pictures in the store and this one grabbed. Read the bubble Jerry Scott Pinting.jpg.JPG (121918 bytes)and you'll read why.  It turns out the painting is done by Jerry Scott Jerry Scott.jpg.JPG (113960 bytes) who is obviously a talented person.

Ed has been in this location for 14 years and thinks the music is how he competes with the giants.  He is his sign and the front of the store.

TRCC sign.jpg.JPG (115166 bytes)  Its a beautiful sign and can be seen from afar.  TRCC front long.jpg.JPG (131001 bytes)  I have to practice taking pictures.

Thank you for your time Ed and Jerry.  I hope our paths cross again.
