Margaret Curry is on the right and this picture is from the Coffee Etc. web site where you may sign up for the e-mail list that provides the music schedule for open mic.

IMGA0263.JPG (119330 bytes) This is Margaret and Niki, both with big smiles.  Margaret is an enthusiastic leader and is dedicated to her customers.  She is not concerned about competition from Starbucks because she is so involved in the community, and is developing a following not only for the coffee she is proud to serve but for her food.  I had the blueberry pancakes and the chef, Margaret, hand placed the blueberries.  It looked and tasted super.

Cathy had the Spinach Quiche, and promptly ordered a complete Quiche pie, which we will enjoy for several days.

The store is located in a strip center with Krueger Supermarket as the center piece.  Starbucks came along with Krueger.  The Coffee Etc. sign is seen easily from Route 501 IMGA0278.JPG (130873 bytes)a very busy 2 and 3 land highway.  There is no doubt that Coffee Etc. can develop a superior whole bean business here.  Krueger is busy, and no one else has the coffee selection that Margaret is considering.

The wi fi connection is the strongest I've had on the trip with service as fast as my cable network at home.

Margaret is convincing when she says Starbucks is not her primary competitor.  Starbucks doe not have flavored coffee, Coffee Etc. does, their employees are not active in community events, Margaret is, with teachers, students and the Chamber.  She has BNI meetings in her store as well.

Relationships is how Margaret put it.  If you have relationships your customer will come back and  back.  This includes learning what they order, and what is going on in their lives.  So work on  your memory as this is a strength that Margaret has: retention of information about customers will enhance the relationship.  Building relationships is also about retaining your staff.  Do what is necessary to retain a good person so that you and your customers are not re-educating the new staff member.  So pay them well, and expect exemplary performance.

Margaret referred Cathy and I to The Trestle Bakery and Cafe in Conway as a coffee house and cafe that is doing extremely well, and we departed after lunch to visit The Trestle.
