Mary, the owner, immediatelyl brought up www.rideforindependents.com when I mentioned it. She was listening, LISTENING, to her customer. Then Mary told me about the Yellow Duck, down the road a piece. Mary is married to Bill and related his monster bike race from Boston to Montreal and back. 750 miles in 4 days, sometimes 22 hour days on the bike. Holy mackerel. Great goo ga mocha. Clearly Bill and Mary (and the second owner Ellen) have stamina. A key to success. And, Mary offered and I accepted a refill on my water bottles, with ice. Actually, I asked if they sold water bottles, and Mary said "no, but how about I refill your bottles." Again, Mary listens and thinks and acts and responds to her customer. Great Directional Roadside Signs. This is one of several placed many miles apart and many miles up stream. This one I think was 5 miles. Integrated operations. This is the coffee bar in the rear of the bookstore. Great aroma draws customers the bar and they have to walk through the book aisles to get there. This was not my idea. Mary, the owner, knows who her competition is. She referred me to the local stores on the Easter Shore, e.g. Yellow Duck Many owners know how to describe the advantages they enjoy vs. Starbucks. |
